100% Cotton in 50g (approx. 2oz) balls of approx. 93 metres.
Rowan Denim cotton will shrink and fade when it is washed just like a pair of jeans. Unlike many "denim" look yarns this is the genuine article. The dye only coats the surface of the yarn leaving a white core which is gradually exposed through washing and wearing. The knitted pieces should be washed separately at a temperature of 60 to 70C before sewing the garment together, they can then be tumble dried. Dye loss will be greatest during the the initial wash and the appearance of the garment will be greatly enhanced with additional washing and wearing. When washed for the first time the garment will shrink up to 1/5th in length but the width will remain the same, if you are knitting a pattern specially designed for Rowan Denim all the necessary adjustments have been made in the instructions.

20 stitches and 28 rows to 10cm. before washing

Machine wash 60 to 70C.
